Fried tomatoes, Scottish black pudding, Lincolnshire sausages, thick bacon, fried beans, fried mushrooms, Lorne sausage and scrambled to eggs.

So delicious. I got the closest thing that anyplace around here has on the menu today - which is to say, only eggs, tomatoes, sausage, and toast; kind of disappointing. How hard would it be for them to at least add some baked beans? They come in cans, you can buy them anywhere.

Baked beans aren’t compulsory but add a new dimens ion to it all.

Southern Scottish black pudding.
There are three common types of black pudding in the U.K., two in Scotland and one in England. Slightly different recipes.

Mmm, that looks good.
I made a little something odd today that was actually quite enjoyable. I put goulash on top of a bed of mashed potatoes (that had sharp cheddar in them). A nice change from the usual egg noodles. Nothing was terribly fresh - it was canned goulash on top of instant potatoes, but whatever - it was quick and tasty.

Some times just throwing something together can come out great.
You almost always question yourself why you didn’t do it sooner.

Take away the beans and black pudding and I’m happy. I tried my best to like beans on my only trip to the UK, but I eventually asked the nice eastern European women who served breakfast to us in the basement of our cheap London hotel, to leave them off.

They are a staple we all grew up with here, in fact beans on toast is a great source of vitamins, protein, fibre, etc.... M any of us can’t understand how the U.S. dislik es them so much.
Tests have shown North America, Europe, Asia, etc... all have different tastes, some preferring sweet over savoury, some salty, some bitter, some spicy, etc...

Exactly. Now I’m thinking of other places where I can use mash instead of noodles.

So tr u e. But many didn’t grow up with them and their taste buds haven’t learned to appreciate them.

I actually didn’t grow up with them, either. It wasn’t until I was older that I found out people had beans as part of breakfast. Once I tried it I was hooked, now it doesn’t matter if it’s simple white beans in tomato sauce or the local place that makes it with pork and pork fat goodness.

W e had Van Camps Pork n’ Beans all the time growing up over here in the state , (which is basically the same as the UK version.) Fried eggs, pork n’ beans and toast or sometimes fried polenta. Fried Spam sometimes too.

Goddam that looks tasty. I regret that the one time I’ve been to England I wouldn’t have liked let alone any of that. Maybe the bacon.

So it’s essentially the veterans group for those who served as a Grenadier?

Ye’, Veteran Club, Comrade Society in the most part. Some may be officers, etc...
At 05:57, you can see an officer inspecting the RCAF before they were to guard duty at Buckingham Palace for the first time in Canadian Air Force history. In July of 2018.
